abstract

adsorption and desorption behavior of gd(iii) ionon macroporous weak acid resin (mwar) had been investigated.the influence of operational conditions such as contact time, initial concentration of gd(iii) ion, initial ph of solution and temperature on the adsorption of gd(iii) ion had been examined. experimental data were exploited for kinetic and thermodynamic evaluations related to the adsorption processes. adsorption isotherms were attempted to be obtained the model parameters at different temperature and to be fitted better to langmuir model than to freundlich model within the studied concentration range. the maximum adsorption capacity of gd(iii) ion on mwar was 384 mg/gat 298 k, calculated from langmuir model. the apparent activation energy was ea = 18.0 kj/mol and adsorption rate constant was k298 = 1.22×10-5 s-1, respectively. thermodynamic parameters such as changes in the enthalpy (δh), entropy (δs) and gibb’s free energy (δg) indicated that gd(iii) ion adsorption by mwar was an endothermic and spontaneous process in nature, and more favorable adsorption was obversed when the ambient temperature was high gd(iii) can be eluted with the composition of 0.5mol/l hcl and 0.5 mol/l nacl solution.

Adsorption of Lead from Aqueous Solution by Modified Beech Sawdust

Sawdust is now being investigated as an adsorbent to remove contaminants from aqueous solution. Heavy metals can be decreased very effectively with the organic material. In this research, adsorption of Pb (II) onto modified beech sawdust in a batch system was investigated. Sawdust was collected from timber mill of Qom, Iran, and modified with H2SO4 and NaOH. Then, the effe...

Adsorption of chloroform from aqueous solution by nano -TiO2

In this study, nano-TiO2 was employed for the adsorption of chloroform from aqueous solution in batch equilibrium experiments to investigate its adsorption properties. The effects of pH, initial chloroform concentration and nano-TiO2 dosage were also investigated. Optimal conditions for chloroform removal by nano-TiO2 have been then identified. Results of equilibrium experiments showed that the...

Adsorption of proteins on spherical polyelectrolyte brushes in aqueous solution

We consider the adsorption of bovine serum albumin (BSA) on spherical polyelectrolyte brushes (SPB). The SPB consist of asolid polystyrene core of 100 nm diameter onto which linear polyelectrolyte chains [poly(acrylic acid), (PAA)] are grafted. The adsorption of BSA is studied at a pH of 6.1 at different concentrations of added salt and buffer. We observe strong adsorption of BSA onto the SPB d...

Adsorption of Copper from Aqueous Solution Using Low- Cost Adsorbent

In this study activated carbon prepared from Adathoda vasica stem was used as adsorbent to remove Cu from an industrial waste water. For this purpose, high grade CuSO4.5H2O was used as heavy metal sample. Laboratory experimental investigation was carried out to identify the effect of pH (1.50 – 5.5), agitation time (30-240 min) varying temperature (30-50 ̊C) and varying biomass quantities (2,4,6...
